Party Flowers - carnations and peonies

I recently was hired to provide flowers for a Campus Infinity car dealership party. The dealership is quite modern so I went with a bold palette of colors. I was very excited to use the orange buddleia (also known as butterfly bush) from my neighbours garden as it's an unusual flower not readily available as a cut flower.

Other flowers used were peonies, green spider mums, hydrangea, carnations in three shades of purple, green dianthus and some maple tree foliage.

Flower Workshop - Vancouver

Last weekend I had an incredible weekend in Vancouver at a floral show and workshop. I met some great people and I was able to ask them a million questions about the floral biz. As I'm dying to have my own shop one day I'm trying to learn as much as I can. The design show was presented by Dee Baunsgaard a very inspiring designer originating from Denmark who now resides in Toronto.

Below was our afternoon creation. We had to create a grid on top of the bowl using the orange sticks and then the flowers were grouped on top of that.

Green Spider Mums

I must say I am a big fan of mums, especially spider mums! These green ones have to be my favorite. In this design, I wanted the intensity of the flowers to be consistent, so I've paired the mums with some bright pink carnations and purple limonium. All these flowers are extremely long lasting, so there is always good value when using them!

Roses and Carnations

The designs below consist of pale green roses, pale green carnations (the most under appreciated flower), hypericum berries, red huck branches, and cymbidium orchids. Staying away from the typical white and red of the holiday season these have a sophisticated wintery feel.
