Sea Cider Wedding - Victoria, BC

I'm happy to share some beautiful photos taken by Kim Kalyn Photography from a wedding last September. This beautiful couple was married at the Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse.

What I loved about this wedding was that 90% of the flowers were local and organic. The only flowers we special ordered were the white hydrangeas and the blush "Juliet" garden roses. I particularly loved the chartreuse green zinnias in the bridesmaids bouquets!

 

Sophisticated Summer Wedding

This past summer I finally had the "dream clients" that everyone wishes for. What makes dream clients you ask? People who are open to ideas, appreciate the art of flowers and design, are trusting, genuine, and are thankful. 

This wedding was a dream come true for me in many ways. One being, with my background in interior design, my favourite environment for flowers is the home. And I was very excited to have clients who wanted flowers to play a major role in their home for their daughter's wedding.

We decided to clear the dining room and living room shelves of all books etc. and flood them with various flowers and a few photos of the bride and groom. We kept to a crisp white color scheme, and mostly clear glass vessels throughout. The bride's parents had the black and white print hanging on the wall of St. Paul's Cathedral made just for the wedding. Such a cool touch.

The couple was married under an old hydrangea vine climbing up an oak tree. The vine wasn't actually in bloom at the time of the wedding, so I covered it with white hydrangea and dahlias in water picks and it turned out to be a beautiful natural arbour.

The bride's lovely dress was from White Peony a local shop here in Victoria. The bride let the bridesmaids choose there own dress colors. Either grey, soft pink or soft yellow.

After the ceremony while the couple was getting photographed the guests had the opportunity to hop on a local "tourist" bus and explore a couple spots in Victoria. I loved this idea! What a treat for the out of town guests.

The reception dinner and dancing took place in the back yard under a white tent softened with draping by En Vied Events.

 Look at these lovely desserts by Delish Catering who catered the whole evening. I am so in love with this gorgeous wedding cake!!

I am a big fan of floating flowers. We floated dahlias in various pots outside the the entry of the home and also in the back yard pond. I was super excited to have the opportunity to make a floating wreath and also use floating tea light holders!

According to the bride and groom the day went off without a hitch, which I'm always happy to hear. All the best to L&G and your new adventures in New York City! And thanks to everyone who helped out on this wedding, you know who you are.

Party Flowers - carnations and peonies

I recently was hired to provide flowers for a Campus Infinity car dealership party. The dealership is quite modern so I went with a bold palette of colors. I was very excited to use the orange buddleia (also known as butterfly bush) from my neighbours garden as it's an unusual flower not readily available as a cut flower.

Other flowers used were peonies, green spider mums, hydrangea, carnations in three shades of purple, green dianthus and some maple tree foliage.

A Classy Pink and Pearls Wedding in Victoria, BC

I am very excited to share some beautiful photos of a February wedding that took place here in Victoria. If you choose to get married in Victoria in February, chances are you will need an indoor ceremony and reception venue due to the likely hood of rain. But, for this lucky couple they had nothing but blue skies, sunshine and not a single drop of rain for their wedding day!

Nikki and Logan chose to be married inside the St. Ann's Academy chapel with it's beautiful gold and soft blue ceiling, which I must admit I just love to see in pictures! One of the first things Nikki and her mother gave me at our initial meeting was the invitation which they had made back in Canmore, Nikki's hometown. The color palette started with this item.

A palette of soft pinks, cream, white and gold created such a sophisticated feeling for this wedding. And especially with all the pearl accents, from the beautiful jewellery she wore, to the details at the reception, it was all just simply classy!

The reception was held in the Vancouver Island Ballroom at the Grand Pacific Hotel. We decided to go with two different centerpieces on the tables. One being, a trio of three vases filled with tulips, pink alstroemeria, hydrangea and baby's breath. And the other a "twisted tulip bowl".

 The head table had hydrangea and baby's breath arrangements on them. Once the reception started the bridesmaids could then place their flowers in the bouquet holders supplied by the decor company which hung on the front of the table. Double duty, do it when you can!

Victoria Women of Weddings - Laurel Point Inn

The first ever event hosted by the Victoria Women of Weddings took place February 12th at the beautiful Laurel Point Inn. What a gorgeous space to host your wedding reception! A few of us wedding vendors collaborated on this first event to help make Sharon Rai's vision come true. The theme was "Hearts and Arrows" with the date being so close to Valentine's Day, and the turn out of vendors was incredible. Here are a few lovely pictures by Deanna McCollum Photography of the flowers I did for our feature table. All the beautiful decor for the event was done by Magical Moments Decorating

Modern Bride Victoria

At the beginning of the month, not only did I have my first wedding for 2013 but I was also part of the Modern Bride event. It was the first of it's kind, and the idea was to have a "bridal expo" that was like no other. Booths were set up though out the mall by various wedding vendors. And the day ended with a "live" wedding, in which one lucky couple had their whole wedding paid for as long as they were married in the mall amongst friends, family and strangers. 

I shared a booth with Tricia from En Vied Events.

Tricia also came up with three different "wedding looks" with her beautiful table linens and accessories which were also on display through out the mall. I added the final touch of flowers which always helps complete the look.

White bridal bouquet - hydrangea and roses

This luxurious bridal bouquet consists of white hydrangea, everest roses, bouvardia, small white cymbidium orchids and freesia. It's soft, textural and scented.

The bride for this bouquet had a small picture frame that she wanted added to the bouquet, and she also wanted to include some of her mother's wedding dress. I ended up cutting the sleeve and luckily the cuff fit perfectly around the stems of the bouquet. Where I cut the sleeve, it left a bit of a ruffle and I finished it with a tie from the dress. I love adding personal touches to bouquets!
